Hyundai has officially listed the Elantra BS6 diesel on its website hinting that a launch is evident. The Elantra has just received a comprehensive facelift but was available only with a petrol motor.
The engine in question is the now familiar 1.5 litre diesel BS6 motor that we have seen under the hood of the new generation Creta and Verna facelift apart from the Kia Seltos. In the 2020 Elantra the engine produces 115ps and 25.5kgm of torque and comes mated to 6-speed manual/automatic transmission. It also gets drive modes where the driver can choose between normal, Eco, sport and smart.
The Elantra facelift BS6 diesel will be sold in variants identical to its petrol counterpart. However there is no clarity or information revealed yet on the same yet by the automaker, hence we will bring in more news once revealed by Hyundai India.
The 2020 Elantra facelift BS6 diesel when it does launch to India will rival the Honda Civic as its only rival as the Toyota Corolla Altis is no longer on sale, while the Skoda Octavia will return in all new avatar at a later stage.
