Mercedes readies new AMG GT 63 S E performance for launch, details revealed

Updated: Feb 3, 2022

Hot on its heels, Mercedes AMG is prepping a new top spec version of the AMG GT 63 called the AMG GT 63 S E-performance. The new AMG GT S E performance is the brand’s first ever performance hybrid model to go on sale for a price tag of £ 173,655.00 OTR

The four door luxury sports saloon’s biggest selling point is the new hybrid petrol motor that it packs under the hood. For starters it gets the same 4.0 litre V8 petrol motor as standard car producing 639hp and 900Nm of torque.

Add the 6.1kw 204hp electric motor and the result is a system output of more than 843hp and 1,400Nm of torque, which is enough to scare the competition apart and give other super sport salons on the race track a lot of catching up to do.

A lot of catching up to do we say because the car sprints from 0-100mph in 2.9 seconds with power being channeled from an AMG speedshift MCT 9G speed transmissions; top speed however is limited to 316 km/h as if the standard 311 km/h wasn’t enough.

Another cool feature worth mentioning on this luxury four door sports performance saloon is the fact that the car can go up to 12 kms in electric mode only, which probably a good touch to get out of the parking lot at 4am in the morning without waking up your neighbors with the loud growl of the engine.

Visually though the car looks the same and styling changes are subtle with new air dams up ahead of the LED headlights along with E-performance badges on either side.

However having said that, the 21-inch 5-spoke twin design forged alloy wheels finished in black do stand out and scream serious sportiness. The AMG night package and AMG aerodynamics package is also on offer for added exclusivity.

The interior on the other hand shares the same high quality interior and features list as the same the standard AMG GT S but the 12.3 inch instrument cluster now reads information related to the hybrid system along with a new steering wheel design.

Adding a touch of comfort in a sporty salon is the AMG ride control + suspension, it adjusts damping force for each wheel to suit the situation in just a few milliseconds. The Mercedes AMG GT S E performance also adds high performance ceramic brake system which is not just lightweight but also has longer service life and is extreme high stability as well.

So quite a stunner than and man would Team Drive Media Reviews love to shoot a video of the new Mercedes AMG GT S E performance but until than just glance by these tech specs which were mentioned in the press release sent to us by Mercedes Benz UK.
