One of the most important announcements at India Bike Week came from none other than the KTM stall which had the Husqvarna motorcycles on display at the event. The highly anticipated and much awaited announcement drew enthusiast’s attention with much fan and fame.
A few months into the motorcycles going on sale in the Indian market, Husqvarna has now found its way into Goa at a KTM dealership in Goa. Yes, you heard it right; KTM Mapusa now officially retails and provides after sales support for Husqvarna bikes in Goa.
The bikes share the same showroom space as the KTM motorcycles and can be serviced at KTM workshops as well. The first of the range to hit India were the Svarpilen 250 and Vipitlen 250 is on display at the dealership in Mapusa.
Both motorcycles share the same design in profile and have unique retro touches with circular LED headlight, compact fuel tank, LED lights and circular instrument cluster. However a point to be noted is that the Svarpilen is more of a scrambler, while the Vipitlen is more of a cafe racer.
Powering the Swedish branded motorcycles is a 248cc single cylinder engine that puts out 311hp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. Both motorcycles also come mated to 6–speed transmission.
Braking power is provided from Bybre four piston callipers with 300mm disc at front and a single calliper 230mm disc at the rear. The suspension unit compromises of 43mm upside down fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Bajaj is also expected to expand the outlet footprint with more dealerships in Goa in the future.
