Last year, Skoda launched the sportier version of the Octavia sedan called the Octavia VRS. As the news of the launch spread, fans lined -up and the allotted models for India were exhausted and it got sold out. But this is 2018 and as promised Skoda has brought the second round of the Octavia VRS sedans in India, two of which were delivered in Goa some few weeks back, here’s a report on the 2018 Octavia VRS 230.
Styling wise the Octavia VRS isn’t radically different and shares its basic design with the standard car, however the sedan does adopt eye catching cosmetic changes to make it look sportier. The nose has a different bumper design along with a new front grille in black and VRS badging on it. The side profile stays the same accept for new17 inch Hawk Anthracite alloys with red brake callipers. At the rear there’s a RS sport spoiler on the boot-lid, RS badging on the boot and dual exhaust designed in sport mode made of stainless steel.
Being a Skoda VRS model, the interior receives special treatment too and the most noticeable change is the all black treatment for the interior. The seats get Alcantara leather wrapped seats with red contrast stitching and RS logo enticed into the headrest. Further accentuating the sporty and racy feeling, a flat bottom steering wheel. The steering wheel and gear knob finish receive RS logos stamped into them.
Power for the Chez car makers latest VRS sedan comes from the same 2.0 litre petrol engine which has been tuned to churn out 230PS and 350nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed Dual synchromesh gearbox(DSG). The sport sedan is claimed to hit 100kmph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 250kmph.
Skoda is offering its sport sedan in three colours namely Candy white, Corrida red, Steel metallic grey and Race blue.
