
Goa is finally getting set to witness the unveiling of the 3rd bridge over the river Mandovi. Earlier in the day today and on the occasion of India’s 70th Republic Day, a 100ft high National flag was hoisted near the Kadamba circle.
Said to have missed several deadlines ever its construction began in 2014, the 620 metre long cable stayed bridge will finally be inaugurated tomorrow at 7.30 in the evening. Though earlier it was speculated that Honourable Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi would inaugurate the bridge, it has now been confirmed that the Shri Nithin Gadkari Union minister of road transport & highways along with Shri Manohar Parrikar honourable chief minister of Goa among other dignitaries.

Originating on one end from the Merces circle junction on the Panjim side the cable stayed bridge will end at Pundalik Nagar in Porvorim. Traffic coming from Ponda however will have wait it off for some more time as the flyover connecting it to the bridge is incomplete and will be complete in the next few months from now.
The authorities have also informed that two and three wheelers will be banned from navigating on the bridge which is due to the high wind velocity and strong currents passing through the bridge. Vehicles plying on the bridge will also have to understand a speed limit of 50kmph and exceeding the same would invite a fine from speed cameras installed on the bridge.
