Maruti Suzuki has been busy updating its models with refreshes and updates, the company was also believed to be working on several all new models to serve as replacements for its current range, some of them being the WagonR and Ertiga. While the WagonR is still in development phase, the company has just taken the curtains off the All new Ertiga mpv.
The new Ertiga MPV has been unveiled at the 2018 Indonesian international motor show in Jakarta where it has made its global debut.
Based on the Heartect platform, the mpv is said to be wider, longer and taller than the model it replaces. The design looks and feels very mature and grown up, the nose gets a new upright stance with slim headlamps and a chunky front bumper. The side profile is way taller than the model it replaces and has larger glass area, while the rear reminds you of the Mitsubishi Expander with the large tall taillamps and redesigned boot-lid.
On the inside the interior and dash board and sports a complete redesign and we expect Maruti to pack their new MPV with loads of more space and features. However, from the pics that have surfaced on the net the dashboard shares a lot of its components from the Swift hatchback.
Power for the Indonesian Ertiga comes from 1.5 litre 104bhp mated to a 5-speed manual. Maruti could offer the Ertiga with automatic or AMT gearbox in Indian in the future.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Second generation Ertiga by August this year and that’s when we will have more details for you until then, stay tuned to Auto Goa.
