BMW has launched the new X7 full size SUV priced at Rs 98.90 lakhs (ex showroom prices). The new flagship is available in engine options – xDrive40i and xDrive30 dpe signature.

Built at BMW’s Chennai plant, the X7 speaks everything about sheer volume and large dimensions. Based on the now familiar CLAR platform, it measures 5151mm in length, 2000mm in weight and1805mm in height and has a ground clearance of 221mm.

Speaking about the design, the nose is dominated by a massive kidney grille which is the biggest version seen on a production BMW car until now flanked by slim LED headlights that look dwarfed by the massive grille. The bumper receives a well detailed chin with a chrome appliqué, air dam, fog lamps and a skid plate. The side profile is again massive and the immediate thing you notice is the length of the car which is considerably longer than what has been done on the X5 or even the X6 for that matter.

The doors and windows are large too and while the 21-inch alloy wheels fill the wheel wells perfectly, the pronounced shoulder line and roof rails help edge some character to the design. The rear on the other hand gets large LED taillights that stretch into the tailgate, while a roof spoiler completes things at the back, along with a bumper that gets dual exhausts and a skid plate.
