BMW has released a new teaser of the new 5 series facelift ahead of its launch nearing closer. The facelifted model had earlier leaked online giving a fair glimpse at what’s changed.
New for the 2020 BMW 5 series as seen from the teaser are new LED headlights with an L-shaped pattern as opposed to the circular patterns it always had flanked by a larger and more grown up version of the kidney grille. The front bumper is new to and can be seen from the leaked image, upfront there’s a larger air dam with a sportier design. The rear too has been redesigned and it now a new set of LED taillamps along with a mildly updated rear bumper.
Updates to the interior are under wraps for now and no pics have emerged online either. However the new 5-series facelift could get more features and a few other updates which should be clear as the launch date draws closer.
Powering the 5-series sedan currently are three engines, a 2.0 litre petrol and diesel along with a creamier 3.0 litre diesel. However when the facelift arrives, these engines could most likely see updates to power and torque figures, while the 8-speed automatic transmission will continue to be offered in the updated model as well.
Globally BMW is offers the 5-series sedan with a new plug in hybrid known as 535e, this combo uses a 2.0 litre petrol with to an electric motor, however an India debut of the plug in hybrid is unconfirmed.
The BMW 5 series takes on the Mercedes Benz E-class, Jaguar XF, Audi A6 Volvo S60 and Lexus ES300 hybrid.
