Datsun has announced that the Go and Go+ will soon receive a CVT automatic gearbox. The announcement comes at a time when the entry level car segment is witnessing the arrival of new competition with new launches around the corner.

However the Datsun Go and Go+ CVT are expected to hit the showroom around early October with a launch expected around the same time as well. It’s interesting to note that the Datsun’s main rivals the Renault Kwid and soon to be launched Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will offer AMT as an automatic gearbox option, while the recently launched Triber will also get AMT in the future too. However the CVT automatic will be first in segment addition.

Visually the Go and Go+ wont sport any changes and will continue the same facelifted styling. Both the cars were updated towards the end of 2018 with shaper styling such as updated headlamps and new bumper with daytime running lights. The facelift also brought new alloy wheels along with rear wiper with wash/wipe function.

The interior however was completely overhauled with a new dashboard and upgraded materials for a richer cabin experience. Datsun also introduced a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, and Apple CarPlay along with a new instrument cluster and a tachometer.

Mechanically both the Go and the Go+ mpv continue to be powered by the same three cylinder 1.2 lire petrol engine that is good for 68 bhp and come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while the new CVT will also be part of the package.
