Ford India has made a Big announcement in the Indian market as regards to its operations. The automaker has disclosed its plans to suspend Indian operations and shut both its plants in a phased manner.
What’s happening at Ford
The company has announced that both its plants will be shut in a phased manner with its Chennai plant by end of 2021 followed by Sanand by 2022. Sadly this means that Ford has pulled the plug on the Figo, Aspire, Ecosport and Endeavour in its model range with immediate effect.
The Good news
Sad as it may be to see a good American car manufacturer like Ford loose steam in India, there is some good news in store. The manufacturer will continue to support its customers with availability of parts along with after sales and service.
The Future
The future looks weak but Ford has imports offerings on the cards. The Indian market could finally have models such as Ranger, Mustang and Mustang Mach E being offered as niece products offerings. The company will also be expanding its back end operations with more employees in a bid to support Ford globally.
