The recall involves 5,088 units of Jazz, City, CR-V and Accord. However the models affected are the previous generation cars and do not affect the current models on sale. Honda has disclosed that the recall is a precautionary measure as part of the global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbags inflators.

The recall directly affects the 10 units of the Jazz manufactured between 2009-2012, 2099 units of the City sedan manufactured between 2007-2013, 52 units of the Civic produced between 2006-2008, 2577 units of the CR-V made between 2003-2008 and 2011 and 350 units of the Accord luxury sedan produced in the year 2003.

As done with most recalls in the country and globally, Honda will contact the affected customers individually and ask them to get their cars for inspection from 29th July 2019. The replacement if required will be carried out free of cost at the respective Honda cars India dealership.

As part of the Takata airbag inflator recalls which have impacted several car makers globally, Honda Cars India continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected by the recall to get their vehicles repaired at authorized dealers as soon as possible. Vehicle owners can check their vehicles’ recall status at www.hondacarindia.com or by calling their authorized dealer.

HCIL reiterates the importance of replacing the affected Takata front airbag inflators urgently as they may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated. The airbag inflator casing might rupture which may result in injury or safety risk to the vehicle occupants.Affected models of Honda’s global recall involving cars in India as wellModelManufacturing yearNo of units affectedJazz2009-201210City2007-20132099Civic2006-200852CR-V2003-2008, 20112577Accord2003350
