Hyundai has drivern in their new budget family hatcheck the Santro for 3.89 Lakhs (ex showroom). The new hatchback has revived the iconic Santro brand back into the Indian market.
Built on the old i10s HA  platform, the new Santro is wider at 1,645mm, taller by 1.560mm but shorter at 3,160mm. Though the new hatchback has revived the Santro brand which always came with a tallboy design, the latest model isn’t as tallboy at all; instead the design is more in line with its competitors.
The Santro is available in 10 variants D-Lite, Era, Magna, Magna AMT, Magna CNG, Magna Sportz, Sportz AMT, Sportz CNG Asta and 7 exterior paint schemes silver, grey, white, red, blue and green. Hyundai is also offering the Santro with 14-inch steel wheels wrapped in 165/70 section tyres, with lower trims coming with 13-inchers with 155/80 sectioned tyres.
On the inside, the Santro comes with a spacious cabin finished in black and beige colour scheme, with coloured highlights being offered as exclusively to the green coloured Santro. Boot space stands at 235 litres.
Equipment talk and the Santro comes with electric adjust wing mirrors, rear wiper with wash/wipe, function, instrument cluster with 2.5 inch mid screen and tachometer, 7.0 inch touchscreen system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror link, steering mounted controls and first in class Rear AC vents as well.
Under the bonnet is the reworked version of the Epsilon 1.1 litre petrol motor that puts out 69hp and 99 Nm of torque that comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Hyundai is also offering a factory fitted CNG kit for the Santro can be had only in the Magna and Sportz variants. Economically the Santro returns 20.3kmpl, while the CNG version delivers 30.5 kgm of gas.
