Jeep India has launched a new variant to the Compass line-up known as the Sport Plus. The new variant sits above the base Sport and Longitude variants and is priced at Rs 15.99 Lakhs (ex showroom).
The new variant gets Quad halogen headlamps, roof rails, R16 Stylised steel wheels, a 5.0 inch touchscreen display with U-connect and dual zone climate control. On the safety front it gets Hill start assist, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, Electronic stability control, ABS with EBD and all speed traction control.
Powering the Sport Plus is the same 2.0 litre Multijet diesel and 1.4 litre Multiair petrol motor. The diesel motor produces 173ps of power at 3750rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1750rpm to 2500rpm. On the other hand the petrol churns out 163 ps of power @ 5500rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 2500-4000rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual as standard for both engines.
The Jeep Compass goes up against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Tata Harrier and will soon be joined by the MG Hector as well.
