Jeep has launched the all new Wrangler priced at Rs 63.94 lakhs (ex showroom prices). Built at the company’s plant in, from where it is shipped to India and can be had in top end Wrangler Ulimited trim and 5 door version only.
The new Wrangler is taller, wider and longer than the outgoing version. The SUV retains the boxy stiloute of the current car but gets a newly designed front end. The bonnet and the seven slat trademark grille is new, while the round headlamps now incorporate LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps. Also on offer are LED fog lights, newly designed body coloured fenders and 18-inch alloy wheels as well. Jeep has also reduced the height of the rear spare wheel thus aiding in visibility and aesthetics.
The 2019 Wrangler features easy fold windscreen function and easy open air driving function. The easy windscreen fold function allows owners to fold down the windshield by removing just a few bolts than before. A body coloured bar is now part of the frame windshield frame structure for added protection. The easy open air dirving allows users to continentally convert the SUV from a hardtop to a soft-top or no doors at all by introducing a new multi hinge pin system that simplifies the removal and installation of doors.
On the inside there’s an all black interior colour scheme and a redesigned dashboard with soft touch materials on offer. However the biggest change is the addition of an 8.4 inch U-connect infortainment system that comes with navigation, apple car play and android auto.
In terms of features, the 2019 Wrangler gets dual zone automatic climate control, dual USB ports, Alphine audio system paired to an 8-speaker 52 watt output, weatherproof push button start, lockable armrest in centre console, Jeep utility grid, Trail rail system and hidden storage compartments.
Under the hood, the new Wrangler ditches the diesel motor for good and in place is a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine. It produces 264 bhp and 400 Nm of torque and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Jeep has also introduced energy generating functions such as auto start/stop, electric power assist, extended fuel shut off and transmission shift management.
