Kia may have just entered the Indian market with the Seltos SUV being the first model on sale; however within three months of the automakers debut the brand has entered into the top 10 of the sales charts in its segment.
Packaged with a sporty exterior that’s a great looker and mixed with the right proportions required for an SUV, the Seltos is also equipeied with a futuristic interior, powerful engines and an attractive price tag. The Seltos has in no time gained lots of momentum for the Kia brand gaining an overwhelming response from the customers
The Seltos has managed to ace arch rivals such as the Hyundai Creta and the MG Hector which incidentally is another new entrant into the market. Bookings for the Hector had crossed 32,000 units out which 500 bookings have been contributed to from Goa. Further adding to the success story is the fact that Kia has sold a record 12,800 units of the Seltos in October alone.
Built at Kia’s plant at Anatapur District in Andra Pradesh, the Seltos is sold in two trims HT line and GT line, while the HT line demands a waiting period of 2 and a half months, the sportier GT line asks for a longer waiting period of 3 months according to the dealer in Goa.
Powering the Seltos is a range of engines in petrol and diesel with multiple transmission choices as well. The 1.6 litre T-GDI produces 177PS, while the 2.0 litre motor puts out 149PS, however the 1.6 litre diesel churns out 136PS. Transmission options will include upto three automatic that include a 7-speed dual clutch auto, a 6-speed torque convertor auto and a continuously variable transmission or CVT.
The Kia Seltos rivals the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, and the Mahindra XUV5OO.
