Kia India is gearing up for its third product incoming to Indian shores. The third model is said to be having its world premiere on the 7th of August 2020 in India according to carandbike.com.
Unveiled as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi Noida, the Korean automakers third product is the Sonet sub compact SUV. The production version is what our country will showcase to the world on the 7th of August.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet in itself will look substantially different and come loaded with more features as well. As from what we saw in the concept,
The Sonnet will carry the brands tiger nose grille proudly with red and black honeycomb inserts; have sleek headlamps and an upright stance. Also part of the package will be squared out wheel arches filled in with large alloy wheels, an upswept window line, chunky roof rails and thick chrome running the length of the window line. A large light bar connecting both the taillamps complete with chunky dual tone bumper with dual tone exhausts and a large roof spoiler are part of the rear package.
The interior is still under wraps however the automaker is expected to also reveal the interior upon the premiere. A host of features some first in class along with connectivity technology courtesy the UVO connect app that will be part of the package as well.
Mechanically the Sonet will be powered by the same engines as that on the Venue, this means a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 diesel could be the ideal options, while transmission options will include an IMT automatic, (a next generation transmission tech evoked about by Kia) along with standard manual as well.
When the Kia Sonet goes on sale post its premiere in August, it will take on established rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3OO, Ford Ecosport and Tata Nexon among many other upcoming models.
