Essentially a new generation Rexton, the new Luxury SUV will come with a redesigned front grille and Mahindra logos to bring it in-line with the company’s design identity. The SUV will also get LED headlamps and taillamps, 9.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system with 360 degree rear view camera display and 9 airbags.

Speaking on the announcement, Rajan Wadhera, President – Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd. said, “The Y400 is one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of this year. Positioned in the high-end SUV segment, the Y400 is a high-end, full sized SUV that offers luxury and exclusivity in its tasteful design, lavish interiors, thrilling performance and best in class features. We are sure that it will further enhance our SUV portfolio.”

Power for the new Mahindra SUV will come from a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel motor that will produce 187bhp and 420 Nm of torque, while transmission option will include a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Mahindra hasn’t yet announced a name brand, but going by the theme set by the company for its MPV the Marazzo, it’s quite expected that the new Y400 will too have a strong nameplate as well. The Y400 will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, Ford Endeavour and even the Skoda Kodiaq to some extent.
