Maruti Suzuki has announced that its compact sedan the Dzire has retained its no 1 position since the last 10 years. The sedan has also sold well over 19 lakhs units since launch. The Dzire had earlier in 2018 also hit a milestone of 3 lakhs units sold since launch and commands a market share of 55% in the market.
Expressing gratitude to customers for making Dzire successful, Mr Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said: “The brand Dzire has been a major contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s journey and we express our gratitude to customers. With the launch of Dzire, we created a new ‘compact sedan’ segment. This segment is continuously evolving and growing. Over the years, Maruti Suzuki Dzire has led this growth and it continues to be relevant and attractive to customers. A testimony to its strong customer connect is that the sales of third generation Dzire went up by nearly 20%.”
Positioned as an authentic sedan, the Dzire offers plush and roomy interiors, feature loaded cabin, frugal engines and advanced safety features. The third generation launched in 2017, became an instant hit as many buyers appreciated the new features such as daytime running lights, precision cut two tone alloy wheels and rear AC vents. Also liked by many was the Smartplay infortainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Powering the sedan is a 1.2 litre 82bhp petrol motor and 1.3 litre 74bhp diesel engine, while transmission duties are taken care of by 5-speed manual and AMT. Fuel economy figures are rated at 28.4 km/l for diesel manual and 28.40 for the diesel AGS. The petrol powered variant returns 22.00 kmpl for the petrol manual and AGS. Interestingly Maruti Suzuki says nearly 13% of buyers have chosen the automatic variant.
Built on the fifth generation HEARTECT platform, the all-new Dzire offers more space and superior safety. Dzire complies with frontal offset, side impact and pedestrian regulations. It is loaded with dual airbags and pre-tensioner force limiter seat belts, ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) and ABS with EBD.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire rivals the Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Tigor.
