Maruti Suzuki launches S-Presso at Rs 3.69 lakhs

Maruti Suzuki has launched the highly anticipated S-Presso mini SUV priced at Rs 3.69 lakhs (ex showroom prices). The new S-Presso stands out for its bold and powerful SUV stance packaged in a small car price tag.

Built on the now familiar Heartect platform, the S-Presso measures 3565mm in length, 1564mm in height, 1520mm in width and uses a wheelbase that figures in at 2380mm. The S-Presso can be had in total 6 variants, Standard, Lxi, Vxi, Vxi AGS, Vxi+ and Vxi+ AGS.

The S-Presso borrows most of its design cues from the Future S Concept and so it retains the upright SUV like stance and high ground clearance of mm. Upfront it gets a squared off bonnet along with small headlamps flanked by a grille inspired from the Vitara Brezza. The bumper houses provision for daytime running lights and has a dual tone layout as well. The side profile has a tall with the high squared off slopping roof, however the wide opening doors and big windows lend are a welcome addition.

The car uses 14-inch wheels in the top variant with alloys offered as an option, however lower variants get 13-inchers. The rear gets a neat design with C-shaped taillights and a roof spoiler on offer, while the bumper again gets a dual tone layout.

The cabin on the other hand gets a handsome design with some nice touches as well. The dashboard is well designed and comes finished in black with colour coded interior bits on the top spec Vxi+ trims. The centrally located dial inspired from the Mini Cooper, Nevertheless it houses a digital speedometer, 7-inch touchscreen that comes with Smartplay studio along with power window and emergency blinker switches.

In terms of features, it gets manual adjust for the wing mirrors, Smartplay studio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 12 volt power socket, USB charging port, steering mounted audio and telephony controls, rear parcel tray and 1-litre bottle holder in front door pockets. Boot space stands at 240 litres with the parcel tray in place and 270 litres without the tray.

Powering the car is the proven K10 petrol engine that is BS6 compliant. It produces 50kw of power at 3500rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3500rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission and delivers 21.7kmpl manual and automatic in the top spec Vxi+ trims, while lower trims return 21.4kmpl in both transmission options.

Maruti Suzuki has also packed in 10 safety features which includes ABS with EBD, dual airbags, seat belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, rear parking assist system, high speed warning alert and reverse parking sensors.

Buyers can choose between 6 exterior paint schemes including two new colours – Solid Sizzle Orange and Pearl Starry blue. Other colours on offer include Solid fire red, Superior white, metallic silky silver and Metallic Granite grey. Further adding a touch of exclusiveness are the personalisation packs to choose from which add individual style to the car. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will rival the soon to be launched Renault Kwid facelift and Datsun Go that will interestingly get a CVT gearbox soon.
