Maruti Suzuki will offer the XL6 in two trims in Nexa talk of course and one engine option mated to manual or automatic transmission. The XL6 though based on the Ertiga will get its own design identity with a bolder chrome grille which merges into the daytime running lights of the projector headlight which a unique design. The front and rear bumper also get different designs and a skid plate. There’s also a healthy dose of body cladding all around the car that adds to the crossover appeal. Other unique touches include blacked out b-pillar and wing mirrors, rigid looking silver roof rails and black alloy wheels.

The interior though leaked on several occasions has finally been unwrapped by the automaker. It makes use of the same basic layout as the Ertiga but gets a more premium and distinct stone finish paired up to silver finish thus creating a world that looks classic and contemporary. The biggest change on the inside is the 6 seat option which has captain seats for the middle row and a bench at the rear; however the seats will come draped plush leather and will have armrest for added comfort and luxury.

Mechanically the XL6 is expected to come with a 1.5 litre petrol motor mated to manual and automatic transmission. Power and torque figures could be tweaked for better performance and economy. The biggest news is that the engine will be BS6 right from day 1 of launch.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be sold and retailed through the Nexa dealerships only. Pricing is expected to be at a premium over the Ertiga. The XL6 is expected to give the Mahindra Marazzo, Honda BR-V and Renault Lodgy some tough competition when it gets launched on the 21st of August.
