Picture this, A 612 hp Merc AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ going sideways with drift mode on, Well Mercedes Benz has done just that and launched the AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ priced at Rs 1.5 Crore.
The AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ gets a load of muscle to go with the AMG badge. It sports a new sportier bonnet, AMG Panamericana grille, sportier bumpers with larger air inlet, beefier wheel arches with 20-inch matte grey alloy wheels, body coloured lip spoiler for the boot and twin exhausts finished off in bright chrome. A point to note is the new is based on the standard wheelbase and not the long wheelbase guise
The interior of the car gets its fair share of muscle with an AMG Spec flat bottomed steering wheel wrapped in DINAMICA microfibre, fully digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch Command Online Navigation System and AMG performance Nappa leather wrapped seats with AMG emblem in headrests.
Driving the heart of the AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ is a 4.0 litre Twin Turbo V8 engine, it churns out 612hp and 850nm torque. This beast of an engine comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with all wheel drive. The AMG 63S can do 0 – 100kmph in a staggering 3.4 seconds. Mercedes-Benz claims an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph and can be further boosted to 300kmph provided you add the optional AMG drivers package to the car. Mercedes has smartly added cylinder deactivation technology in the new E 63 AMG, this system automatically shuts down half of the cylinders thus improving on efficiency.
But in-case all this is not fun, Merc has thrown in a Drift mode, well… yeah, they did it, set in a drift mode into the AMG 63 S 4MATIC+. Activating Drift mode can be done by shifting to Race drive program using the shift paddles provided ESP is deactivated and the transmission is in manual mode, during the time when Drift mode is turned on the AMG 63 S 4MATIC+ remains purely in rear wheel drive mode only and remains to be engaged until deactivated by the driver.
The new AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ will take on the BMW M5 which is its only competitor in this segment.
