The new G Class will be available only in AMG trim as before and is powered by a 5.5 litre V8 bi-turbo petrol motor producing 507 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. The massive motor comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 5.5 seconds. It also comes with 350mm front and 330mm rear disc brakes along with permanent all wheel drive and three locking differentials.

Speaking about its design, the G wagon hasn’t evolved much with the SUV sticking to the boxy design that it has been carrying on since 1979, but gets modern touches like the panamericana grille, led headlamps with circular daytime running lights, led taillights and side exhaust pipes. The 2018 G 63 AMG rides on 22-inch alloy wheels.

The biggest highlight of the second generation G63 AMG lies in the interior, which seems been lifted straight off the S-class. There’s a new chunkier steering wheel and twin 12.3 inch display screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system.

The German luxury car manufacturer has also packed the new G63 AMG with safety features such as Lane keeping assist, Active brake assist and 9 airbags, while blind spot warning system and adaptive cruise control are optional
