Counto Motors, the dealer partners for Mercedes Benz in Goa have launched the new generation GLE in Goa. Launched in two variants, buyers can book theirs at Rs 73.70 lakhs for the base GLE 300D and Rs 1.25 crores for the top end GLE 400D hip hop edition.

The new generation Mercedes Benz GLE may look instantly recognizable in profile but is actually an all new generation car altogether. The car is now more edgy, modern and rugged as well. It gets a sleek bonnet flanked by curved LED headlights and large twin slat chrome bar, while the sporty bumper gets thick chrome touches adding to the premium finish. The side profile retains its signature look but does get an increase in wheelbase and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. At the back is where most major changes have been done; you now get a redesigned tailgate, new sharp looking taillights and horizontally placed dual exhaust pipes.

The interior has also been redesigned with a new look for the dashboard and a more evolving layout. The cabin is also more spacious especially at the back where the increase in wheelbase is clearly evident. Most owners will appreciate the high end finish with black, beige and wood colour scheme and the S-class like twin screen layout. For India however we only get the 5-seater variant as opposed to the 7-seater configuration sold aboard, this in turn opens up 630 litres of boot space

New features, kit and technology in the new 2020 Mercedes Benz GLE class are an array of new additions. These include LED headlight and taillights, 12.3 inch twin touchscreen systems, MBUX “Hey Mercedes” voice commands, ambient lighting, a powered tailgate and a Pananormic sunroof among many more.

Something surpassing however is the fact that the 2020 GLE comes powered by BS6 spec diesel engines ( a spec most automakers are moving away from) There are two engine options to choose from, a 2.0 litre 300 diesel engine with 245hp and 500Nm of torque and a 3.0 litre 400 diesel motor with 325hp and 700Nm of torque on tap. Transmission options include a sole 9-speed automatic only.
