Honda’s Dio has been a long successful product that has been doing great sales for the company and demand not showing signs of slowing down. However with time comes the need to have an updated product and Honda has done just that.
Launched in febuary 2020, the scooter has taken its own sweet time to reach the showrooms in Goa; Buyers looking to purchase the updated scooter have the option of choosing between two trims- standard and deluxe; prices for the new model start at Rs 59,990 for the former and Rs 63,340 for the latter.
The next generation Dio receives an all new design that has matured but stays remicscent to the original Dio shape. It gets a fresh set of graphics along with a brand new LED headlight and taillight, a daytime running light placed high above, larger seat due to the increase in wheelbase and a redesigned grab rail for the pillion rider.
Deluxe Dio buyers will be greeted by an all new digital instrument cluster that will come loaded with tech like a service due indicator, distance to empty, average fuel effiencey and real time fuel efficiency. Standard Dio owners will get a standard instrument cluster and hence misses out on the fuel effiencey readings but does get engine start/stop and a 3-step Eco indicator.
The 2020 Dio for India also rides on 90/90 tubeless tyres with 12-inch front and 10-inch wheel at the rear. However in standard variant it gets a black wheel, while the deluxe gets a Gold colour.
On the features front, it gets a pass light for switching high beam and low beam, engine start/stop, side stand indicator, external fuel lid, service due indicator, single switch to access underseat storage and dual function switch.
Powering the scooter is an 110cc BS6 engine that makes 7.68bhp and 8.79Nm of torque and comes mated to an automatic transmission. Honda says the new engine uses programmed fuel injection along with the company’s enhanced smart power system.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic fork at front and a three step adjustable unit at the rear. Braking is taken care of by 130mm drum at the front and rear with combined braking system coming to the aid.
Also on the options list for buyers are 7 colour options available in standard and deluxe versions. The standard gets 4 options which includes – Matte Axis Grey metallic, Candy jazzy blue, Sports red and Vibrant Orange. The Deluxe brings in 3 options – Dazzle Yellow metallic, Matte axis grey metallic and Matte Sangria red metallic.
