New generation Range Rover Évoque launched

The Range Rover Évoque, a compact luxury SUV that went on to become one of the most iconic compact SUV for JLR, the sporty coupe like styling, high on tech feature savvy interiors and strong in performance engines made it an incredible success.

So how do you improve an all already well versed product without messing up its credentials? Enter the second generation Range Rover Evogue that has been launched in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 54.94 lakhs (ex showroom prices).

Sold in two trims the Évoque S and the Evoque SE, the new Evoque is built on an all a new Premium Traverse Architecture and is easily accessible if the shift to electrification comes to mind.

The design of the 2020 Range Rover Evoque seeks inspiration from the Velar while still retaining its sporty proportions. It gets beautifully designed LED headlamps that stretch all the way into the front doors, a sleek front grille finished in honeycomb pattern and a muscular front bumper. However a key differentiator exclusive to the Evoque is the rectangular air inlet opening below the grille. The side profile does not stray too far from the current Evoque but it does receive raised wheelarches however the flush fitting door handles and large 18-inch alloys are a new addition. The rear however receives slim wrapping LED taillights and an aesthetically designed tailgate along with dual exhausts to complete the look.

The interior has also been redesigned to offer more space, luxury and comfort. Hence now offers in combinations of finely crafted layouts with uncluttered surfaces and premium materials. There’s an all new steering wheel with feather light touch controls, new digital instrument cluster and twin touchscreens (one for the infortainment and one for the Air con control) on offer.

On the features list buyers will be greeted by a 14-speaker system with dual channel sub woofer, clear sight mirror, electrically controlled driver seat with 16-adjust modes, in control Touch Pro software for the infortainment system, panoramic sunroof and dynamic turn indicators.

Under the hood, the new generation Range Rover Evoque comes powered by 2.0 litre BS6 petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0 litre petrol produces 249hp and Nm of torque, this motor however also comes mated to a 48V mild hybrid motor and a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.0 litre diesel churns out 180hp and 430Nm of torque; it comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and gets all wheel drive as well.

The new Range Rover Evoque is also extremely capable off road as it is on road; it gets the automakers Terrain Response 2 system. The system according to Range Rover automatically detects the surface the vehicle is being drivern on and adjusts the set ups accordingly. It can also wade through 600mm of water in ease thus accentuating its off roading capabilities.

Talking about the safety front, the Evoque for 2020 adds Six airbags, ABS with EBD, pedestrian airbag, emergency brake assist, hill assist and traction control. The new Range Rover Evoque takes on the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the recently updated Mercedes Benz GLC.
