New Hyundai Verna facelift begins arriving at showrooms

The new Hyundai Verna facelift has finally arrived at dealerships across the country. The sedan was launched during the lockdown and as there was no interstate movement of goods the car wasn’t available for display.

However the new Verna has now arrived at showrooms and receives a quite a few substantial changes to keep it fresh.

It gets a wide and large version of the cascading front grille finished in dark chrome; the grille now merges into the redesigned LED headlights. There’s also a new front bumper with newly designed fog lamp housings and air curtains along with slim air dam and a chrome splitter. The side sees no changes accept for the addition of new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear however receives an updated pair of LED taillights which are now sharper in comparison along with a revised dual tone bumper with chrome appliqué and reflectors.

Enthusiasts choosing the 1.0 turbo petrol will be greeted by a blacked out front grille, dual exhaust and an all black interior colour scheme. Under the hood 1.0 litre turbo petrol powers the car and churns out 121ps and 172Nm of torque, adding flavour to the icing is the 7-speed dual clutch automatic paired to paddle shifters.

The interior gets a black and beige dual tone colour scheme and has received some minor changes, the most noticeable being the digital instrument cluster, redesigned A/C vents and the new 8.0 inch touchscreen infortainment system. The touchscreen packs in Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, bluetooth connectivity and Blu-link with 45 functions as well. In terms of features it gets LED headlights, LED taillights, wireless charging, handsfree trunk opening, electric sunroof, ventilated seats and an Arkamys audio system.

Powering the car are 1.5 petrol and diesel engines, the 1.5 petrol puts out 116ps and 144Nm torque, while the diesel produces hp and Nm of torque, while the diesel produces 116ps and 250Nm torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

Though there is the new generation Honda City also making its debut in the Indian market around the same time as well. The midsize sedan will also rival the soon to be launched updated Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Toyota Yaris.
