Land Rover has launched Discovery Sport facelift at a price tag of Rs 57.06 lakhs (ex showroom prices). The new Discovery Sport gets a design upgrade and comes in two trims Discovery S and Discovery R-Dynamic.
Talking about its design, the Discovery Sport for 2020 adopts a fresher, edgier and sportier design in its approach. It gets restyled front and rear bumpers, new LED headlights and taillights and a redesigned front grille as well.
Another fresh bit of news for the 2020 Discovery Sport facelift is fact there is a brand new platform in the Discovery Sport line-up. The platform borrowed from the Evoque is traversely mounted and is said to allow electrification and hybridisation as well.
The cabin has also been updated with a new 10.2–inch touchscreen unit for the infortainment system along with new AC controls and steering mounted touch pads. Otherwise the interior is pretty much the same with the same levels of comfort and luxury as the outgoing Defender Sport.
In terms of features, it gets a full LED headlamps, full LED taillamps, powered tailgate, panoramic roof, digital instrument cluster, digital rear view mirror with roof antenna mounted camera, 12-way adjustable driver seat and a 10-inch touchscreen infortainment system.
Powering the Defender Sport in 2020 era are 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines that confirms to BS6 guise. The petrol makes 245hp and 365Nm of torque, while the diesel churns out 180hp and 430Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic as standard. However a point to note here would be that the petrol 2.0 engine comes mated to a 48v mild hybrid motor.
The Discovery Sport continues to be the only 7-seater option in its respective segment with a 5+2 seating layout
On the safety front it gets 6-airbags, Emergency assist, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, front and rear ISOFIX seats and heated wing mirrors. The Land Rover Evoque rivals the BMW X3 Mercedes Benz GLC facelift, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.
