Skoda has launched the new Rapid 1.0 TSI in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 7.49 lakhs (ex showroom price). The new 2020 Rapid gets a new engine and a few subtle updates to keep it fresh in the market.
The most known change lies under the hood where it’s now powered by BS6 spec 1.0 litre TSI petrol motor that churns out 110hp and 175Nm torque. Transmission options however are limited to a 6-speed manual only for now, while an automatic could be introduced later in the year.
Buyers can now choose between 5 variants in the Rapid line-up – Rider, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. Visual changes in the 2020 Rapid are subtle are however limited to just the new alloy wheels and a boot-lid lip spoiler, while the rest of the car is the same. Also new is a 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Mirror link compatibility.
The 2020 Skoda Rapid rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris all of which are now petrol only models, while the just updated Hyundai Verna and upcoming Honda City both have BS6 diesel engines under the hood.
