Nissan has announced the start of production of Kicks in the Indian market. The SUV is slated for launch in January 2019, with bookings also being accepted around the same time.

Nissan’s Kicks packs in a progressive and stunning design. Apart from the typical Nissan design elements like the front V-motion grille the Kicks gets Orange finish for the roof, LED headlights, aluminium skid plates and faux air inlets

“Commenting on the announcement, Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan India Operations said, “We are excited to announce the start-of-production of New Nissan KICKS at our plant in Chennai. We had recently showcased the New Nissan KICKS which has created a lot of buzz and excitement amongst SUV enthusiasts across the country. Designed to appeal to the new-age urban adventure seeker, the KICKS is a testimony to our commitment to the Indian consumers and also reflects the SUV heritage of Nissan.”

.The India-spec Kicks is also notably bigger than the International model and will use the Terrano’s BO platform underneath. The interior has been kept under wraps but, what we know is that the cabin will much bigger and get more features as well. “The body of the Kicks has been built using a Graphene body structure enabling it to absorb impact energy, making it safer for agile movement on Indian roads” said Nissan India in a press release.

Powering the 2019 Kicks could come from the 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines borrowed from the Terrano. Transmission options should come from a 5-speed manual at launch, with automatic coming in later. The India spec Kicks will also ride on R17  5-spoke machined alloy wheels.
