Nissan has announced that the 2020 BS6 Kicks will be powered by a 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine. Along with the new engine, the facelifted version could also be introduced in the Indian market.

The engine in question is HR13 DDT 1.3 litre turbo petrol motor that is also shared with the Renault Duster, however Nissan says the engine will come with engine coating technology borrowed from the Nissan GT-R. This technology is said to boost fuel efficiency and performance of the engine. Under the hood of the Kicks it will produce 156hp and 254Nm of torque and come mated to an 8-step CVT gearbox while a manual will most likely be a second choice.

“The all new Nissan KICKS 2020 is built with Japanese engineering and technology and has high build quality with purposeful and intelligent technology with class-leading premium-ness. The New Nissan KICKS is powered by best-in-class turbo engine and best-in-class X-tronic CVT offering higher fuel economy and acceleration,” said Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India.

Internationally the Nissan Kicks facelift had surfaced giving a clear look at the updated compact SUV. However there has been no official news whether the 2020 Kicks will come to India in the immediate future or not. Back home it rivals the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV 5OO, Kia Seltos, Maruti S-Cross, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur and Renault Duster. Pricing for the BS6 Kicks should be announced soon.
