Nissan unveils India spec 2019 Kicks SUV

Nissan has taken the wraps off the exterior of the India spec Kicks SUV, The new Nissan kicks sports a unique wider and robust style underlined by an exciting exterior package.

The Nissan Kicks for India will be arguably bigger and shares the same styling as the International model but gets a host of changes which are exclusive to the India-spec SUV. What’s different on the India-spec Kicks are LED headlights with boomerang shaped LED daytime running lights. Lower down it gets a front bumper that has been redesigned with faux air inlets above the fog lamps and an allumium skid plate.

At the back, nothing much has changed accept for the addition of a chrome strip above the registration plate holder and a reworked bumper. The India-spec Kicks will also ride on 17-inch five spoke machined alloy wheels that add a touch of style to an already good looking SUV.

Talking about the smart exteriors, Thomas Kuehl, President, Nissan India Operations, said, “We are excited and proud to unveil the engaging and provocative design of the NEW KICKS. In terms of dimensions the India-spec Kicks measures 4384mm in length, 1656mm in height, and 1813mm in width but shares the same wheelbase of 2673mm.Ground clearance is said to be in excess of 200mm.

Nissan hasn’t revealed the interior of the Kicks just yet, but expect the cabin to feature design that will be as stylish as the exterior design. But what we know is that the Kicks will be a five seat SUV and will come with a free standing 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system that will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Globally the Kicks comes with a dual tone paint job with the roof getting a bright Orange paint job which Nissan will definitely get to the Indian-spec model as well. The fuel tank lid of the will also move to the right due to the platform that underpins it.

Powering the India-spec Kicks will most likely be the same 1.5 litre petrol and diesel motors with a bump in power and torque figures. Transmission options will most probably include a 5-speed manual for the petrol and a 6-speed manual for the diesel, while automatics could be offered at a later stage.

Nissan has announced that the Kicks will launch in January 2019 and go head to head with its own cousin the Renault Captur and Hyundai Creta.
