Skoda re-launches Rapid Monte Carlo edition

Skoda Auto India has re-launched the Rapid Monte Carlo edition in the Indian market. The sedan was launched earlier but had to be renamed to edition X owing to some dispute to the Monte Carlo branding on the car.

The 2019 Rapid Monte Carlo looks no different from its predecessor. The sports edition sedan gets LED headlamps and gets black treatment for the roof, headlamp and front grille. It also receives a Monte Carlo badge on the blacked out b-pillar, a black bootlid spoiler and rides on 16-inch clubber alloy wheels with black bolts covers.

The cabin comes in black and gets subtle red stitching for the steering wheel, gearknob and seats, speaking of which the seats also get leatherette upholstery with grey vertical stripes. Other changes exclusive to the Monte Carlo spec Rapid include piano black centre console, scuff plates and stainless steel pedals.

On the equipment front, the sedan gets a plethora of features like 6.5 inch colour touchscreen inforrtainment system, climatronic air con control, dual rear A/C vents, cruise control, height and length adjustable steering wheel, tinted windows and rear view camera.

Powering the car is The RAPID Monte Carlo is a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine. The 1.6 litre petrol churns out 105 ps of power and 153 Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand the diesel motor delivers 110ps and 250 Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a 5–speed manual and 6–speed automatic gearbox for the petrol and 5–speeds manual and 7–speed automatic gearbox for the diesel. Fuel effiencey figures are rated at 21.72 kmpl for the DSG petrol and 21.13 kmpl for the manual transmission petrol. Similarly the diesel manual returns 15.41kmpl in diesel manual and 14.84kmpl in diesel automatic.
