Tata H5X concept christened to Harrier

Tata Motors has formally revealed the name of its concept SUV code-named H5X as Harrier. The announcement comes a day after teasers were released on Tata Motors facebook page of the new naming strategy.

Tata motors is believed to use the Harrier naming only for the five seat SUV, while the 7-seat version will get a different name. First unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo, the SUV was code-named as H5X concept is expected to spawn a stunning looking SUV with most of the design staying true to the concept.

The Harrier is Tata’s first offering to sport the ‘IMPACT Design 2.0’ philosophy and some of the design highlights of the Harrier Suv concept include high set led headlamps, strong shoulder line and a floating roof.

The 5-seater monocoque SUV will be engineered on a new generation Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’ Architecture platform which is derived from the legendary Land Rover D8 architecture and offer extraordinary exterior design and intelligently designed plush interiors with future ready connectivity and best-in-class infotainment system. The SUV will be designed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover and will be worked on by Tata Motors engineers to allow the Harrier to be better suited to Indian conditions.

Announcing the name of this much-anticipated SUV, Mr. Mayank Pareek – President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said – “With Turnaround 2.0 into play, we are geared to win sustainably in the market. We are proudly speeding towards our next market introduction – ‘Tata Harrier’, yet another game changer, to offer our customers a product, which is not only exciting but that which will take our brand value to the next level. With legendary pedigree running through its veins, ‘Tata Harrier’ promises to shatter all current benchmarks and pave entirely new standards for SUVs in India. This is in line with our well-defined go-to-market strategy. We are excited to introduce the ‘Tata Harrier’ to our customers and are gearing up for the commercial launch in the first quarter of 2019.”

Tata’s Harrier is expected to make its market debut in January 2019 which is when prices and other details will follow.
