Tata has finally launched the AMT gearbox equipped Nexon in India and is available in both Petrol and Diesel engine options.
Based on the top end XZA+ variant, the Nexon AMT comes loaded with the all the bells and whistles of the regular manual Nexon like Projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and front fog lamps. 6.5-inch Harman sourced touchscreen which comes compatible with Android auto and a new smart key that is wearable.
Power for the Nexon AMT comes from 1.5 litre three-cylinder petrol motor producing 110bhp and 170nm torque while the diesel motor is a 1.5 litre four-cylinder unit churning out 110bhp and 260nm torque. Transmission options include the 6-speed manual and the new AMT gearbox. Further adding to the convenience of driving the AMT Nexon is the hill assist and creep function. The AMT equipped Nexon also gets multiple driving modes which include Eco, Sport and City and manual mode.
The Nexon AMT sports no visual differences with its manual counterpart on the outside save for the AMT badges on the boot-lid, 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60 tyres and a new Etna Orange and silver dual tone colour. The interiors too continue with the same three tone dashboard and spacious seating.
When it comes to competition the Nexon AMT petrol takes on the Ford Ecosport Titanium+ AT, while the diesel AMT has no direct competitors. Tata Motors has also introduced a new customization platform – “IMAGINATOR’ for the subcompact SUV.
