Tata Motors launches Tigor EV with extended range

Tata Motors has launched the updated Tigor EV with extended range with a price tag of Rs 9.14 lakhs (ex showroom prices). The Tigor EV is finally made available to private buyers after it was limited to just Government officials and fleet buyers only.

Speaking on the launch of this new variant, Mr. Ashesh Dhar, Head – Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Electric Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Tigor EV Extended Range model aptly addresses the requirements of longer range applications and also provides higher revenue earning potential for our commercial customers. This new version builds on the success of the award winning Tigor EV, which is already deployed with several fleets and Government customers. This launch reinforces our commitment towards sustainable mobility solutions in India.”

The 2019 Tigor EV extended range can be had in three variants – XE+, XM+ and XT+. The 2019 Tigor EV extended range comes with the same design as the conventional Tigor sedan, save for a few EV specific bits to differentiate it from the standard car. It gets a Premium front grille with EV badge, stylish 14-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, EV badges on the bootlid and high mount LED stop lamp.

Buyers can choose between three colours Egyptian blue, Roman silver and Pearlescent white, while on the inside a grey and classic black colour scheme is on offer along with superior seat fabric, height adjustable seat, and impressive sound by Harman.

Powering the car is a 21.5kw battery pack that produces 41hp at 4,500rpm and 105Nm of torque at 2,500rpm and uses a single speed transmission. This time around however it gets a certified range of 213kms, which is a big improvement over the 150kms range of the predecessor. Charging ports can be accessed by both AC and DC charging ports; however the car does get two drive modes – Drive and Sport.

Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with dual airbags (XE+ variant with Driver Airbag only) and an anti-lock braking system as standard safety features. The vehicle also comes with an inbuilt warranty of 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms, whichever is earlier.
