Tata’s most loved hatchback, the Tiago has hit a new high with the month of August recording the highest ever monthly sales with 9,277 units sold.
The home-grown company says 80 percent of the sales have come from the fully loaded XZ variant. The hatchback has gained traction in north-eastern states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Tricity, Chandigrah, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr. S. N. Barman – Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Customer Support, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “The Tiago brand continues to go from strength to strength and last month’s numbers are a testament to that. These volumes can be attributed to the pre-festive season demand for the car. Since the launch in April 2016, we have sold over 1.7 lakh units and it is the only product in the hatchback segment which is still registering a strong growth despite being in its third year of production. We are confident that with the introduction of newer models such as the recently-launched Tiago NRG, the brand will continue to thrive in the foreseeable future.”
Tiago was the first product to follow the Impact design language with a fresh young look which has been appreciated by the modern generation with more than 50% of the buyers being in the age limit of 35 years says a Press Release.
Powering the hatchback is 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine producing 85 PS at 6000rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 3500rpm. The diesel on the other hand includes a 1.05 litre Revetorq motor producing 70 PS at 4000rpm and 140 Nm of torque that spreads out between 1800-3000rpm. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol gets the option of an AMT as well.
Tata Motors recently launched the Tiago NRG right in time with the festive season kicking in, which means the sales charts could further see an increase in numbers. The company is also in the process of launching the high performance Tiago JTP by Diwali this year.
