Toyota has realised a new teaser image of the Urban Cruiser on its website hinting at a festive season launch. The Urban Cruiser will be the second product to based of a Maruti Suzuki after the Baleno based Glanza.

The new Urban Cruiser from Toyota will share its platform and base with the Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki; however the former is expected to have its own unique identity to soft parts like the headlights, taillights, front grille along with front and rear bumpers.

Seen in the teaser image on Toyota India’s website is a new front grille that has a twin bar design and a Toyota logo.  Also revealed partially is the more masculine front bumper with a possible larger air dam while the alloy wheels could have a different pattern.

While it’s too early to comment on the interior, as of now we do know that the Urban Cruiser will again share its basic cabin with the Vitara Brezza, however it would be safe to expect a different upholstery and colour scheme apart from the presence of a Toyota logo on the steering.

Mechanically the Toyota Urban is expected to be powered by the same 1.5 litre four cylinder petrol motor from the Brezza, however whether power and torque figures will remain the same are still unknown. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual while an automatic cannot be ruled out.

Just how the Japanese automaker did with the Glanza, longer warranty along with attractive service packages will be the mainstay advantage over the Vitara Brezza.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser when launched will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3OO, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon, apart from upcoming models like the Kia Sonnet, Renault Kigher and Nissan Magnite.
