Toyota has finally unveiled and launched its first sub compact SUV known as Raize. The Raize Toyota says gets its name from the words “rise” and “raise.” and It signifies an active car that energizes everyday life.
Built on the future proof DNG-A platform, the Raize measures 3,995mm in length, 1,695mm in width 1,695 in height and uses a wheelbase of 2525mm.Speaking of the design and styling, the Raize gets a smart and futuristic design language with an upright stance and flat bonnet.
The face gets sporty looking LED headlights with sequential turn lights which are connected by a black grille, while lower down there’s a large air dam along with LED daytime running lights and fog lamps on either side. The side profile is packed cleanly with a neat look, while the 17-inch dual tone alloy wheels and black cladding add to the visual drama. The rear gets a well designed bonnet along with angular taillamps that again are connected through a black grille, while lower down in the bumper there’s black cladding and an extra pair of reflectors with black housings.
The Toyota Raize gets a well appointed cabin with a neat looking design and a multi-layered dashboard, while the all black layout with chrome highlights add a premium feel to the cabin. The instrument cluster is an all digital LED unit that comes with 7-inch TFT colour display and four display modes – Advanced, Exciting, Simple and Analogue. It also gets a well designed leather wrapped steering wheel, 9-inch touchscreen infortainment system with SmartDevice link and Apple CarPlay and well cushioned seats.
Mechanically the Toyota Raize comes powered by 1.0 litre turbo petrol motor, the motor is said to produce 96bhp and 140Nm of torque and comes mated to a D-CVT transmission with 2WD and 4WD on offer. Toyota says the engine the car achieves outstanding the torque and driving joy of a 1.5 litre engine, as well as outstanding fuel effiencey courtesy the D-CVT transmission. The D-CVT adds split gears to existing CVT belt drives and uses both belt and gear drives at high speeds for improved transmission efficiency.
Toyota has also packed the Raize with latest Smart Assist safety features, including the Crash Avoidance Braking Function, which is capable of detecting both vehicles and pedestrians, and the Erroneous Start Prevention Function with braking control (forward and backward).It also uses Macpherson struts at front and torsion beams have been used for the rear.
Prices for the new SUV start at Rs 1,679,000 Yen to 2,282,200 Yen
While many would want Toyota to seriously consider the Raize for Indian markets, there is no official confirmation on whether or not the Raize will make it to India. However what we are confirmed to get is a rebadged Vitara Brezza from the Maruti Suzuki stable that is expected to arrive soon.
