Toyota Kisloskar India has been spotted testing a mysterious hatchback in the Indian market. Mysterious as it sounds to the masses the car spotted testing under the Toyota umbrella is actually the Maruti Suzuki Waganor.

Toyota has been long time missing in the entry small car segment following the discontinuation of the Etios brand of cars. It now appears that the Japanese automaker will be introducing a rebadged version of the Waganor in the Indian market.

Although the internet has been flooded with news and pics of the popular hatchback, confirmed news on whether the car is internal combustion powered or electric are scarce.

Toyota’s version of the Waganor electric uses the standard Waganor’s tall boy stance and smart boy profile along with a few key differences. Easily visible to the naked eye is the fully redesigned front end, it includes a new split headlight setup, new bonnet, new bumpers with wide air intake and circular fog lights.

The side profile remains intact save for the Toyota badges on the alloy wheels which have been borrowed from the Nexa Ignis. The rear doesn’t stray too far from the donor car but does get restyled rear bumper with a blacked out section and side reflectors.

The interior hasn’t been revealed in these set of images and hence is unclear as to what changes have been made to the cabin and features list. Let us know in the comments section below what do you think will be different in the Toyota badged Waganor.

The concept of Toyota launching the rebadged Waganor under its umbrella joins the other two models the Glanza and Urban Cruiser which are both rebadged Maruti Suzuki models and have proven success for the company.

Toyota will also give the badge engineered tall boy a different name and as speculations suggest the recently registered Hyryder name could be in the fray. Considering the Toyota Waganor spied testing is production ready, an Indian launch could be imminent within the next few months.

Toyota is also expected to launch a badge engineered Ciaz called the Belta along with a MPV and Creta fighting SUV which are said to be under development for future launch.
