Volvo launches XC40 SUV in India at Rs 39.90 Lakhs

Design and styling is right in line with Volvo’s modern design language, with the familiar Volvo upright stance. The SUV gets large Thor hammers LED headlights flanked by a huge front grille and stylish LED taillamps. The R-Design trim gets a dual tone paint job with black roof. The XC4O R Design also gets an all black front grille, smoked headlamps and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Features on board the Volvo XC40 is wireless phone charging, 12-speaker Harman Kadon sound system, heated front and rear seats and a powered tailgate. Volvos being known for safety is no secret and so the XC40 is offered with blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, emergency braking, electronic stability program, traction control, hill descent control and eight airbags.

At the heart of the SUV is a 2.0 litre D4 four cylinder diesel motor churning out 190hp and 400Nm torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and is capable of a 0-100kmph spring in 7.9 seconds.
Volvo’s new baby SUV will go head on with the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Rand Rover Evogue, Lexus NX and Audi Q3 and by the looks of it, there could be quite a storm created in this segment soon.
